Time Zone: Reykjavik lies in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time. The time zone in French: CST- Heure Normale du Centre (HNC), CDT- Heure Avancée du Centre (HAC).

Adding Reykjavik to Our Gazetteer ...
As we work on our Gazetteer, we occasionally find mention of a community that is new to us. When we find such a community, we add it to our Gazetteer with the hope of adding more information in the future.
The earliest source (so far) we've referenced which mentioned Reykjavik was on a map titled Road Map for Manitoba and Saskatchewan (from Shell Oil, 1956).
When there's a risk of an area code running out of phone numbers, an 'Overlay Area Code' is created that has the same geographic boundaries as the existing area code. In this case, the 204 code has been Overlayed with one of the following codes: 431 or 584. New phone numbers in the Reykjavik area will be assigned with one of these codes: 204, 431 or 584. As a result, placing a call in the Reykjavik area will require 10-digit dialing (where you enter both the area code and then the phone number).
