Time Zone: Munk lies in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time. The time zone in French: CST- Heure Normale du Centre (HNC), CDT- Heure Avancée du Centre (HAC).
As we work on our Gazetteer, we occasionally find mention of a community that is new to us. When we find such a community, we add it to our Gazetteer with the hope of adding more information in the future.
The earliest source (so far) we've referenced which mentioned Munk was in the book titled North American Railroad Atlas - Manitoba & Saskatchewan.
When there's a risk of an area code running out of phone numbers, an 'Overlay Area Code' is created that has the same geographic boundaries as the existing area code. In this case, the 204 code has been Overlayed with one of the following codes: 431 or 584. New phone numbers in the Munk area will be assigned with one of these codes: 204, 431 or 584. As a result, placing a call in the Munk area will require 10-digit dialing (where you enter both the area code and then the phone number).
