Jackson Parish was founded in 1845. Jackson was created by taking area from Claiborne, Ouachita and Union Parishes.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Jackson had a population of 15,761 people. This is a decrease of 3.15% since the last Census (which gave a population of 16,274 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Jackson represented 0.36% of the total population of Louisiana.
