Evangeline Parish was founded in 1910 and was created by taking area from Saint Landry Parish.
From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Evangeline had a population of 33,396 people. This is a decrease of 1.73% since the last Census (which gave a population of 33,984 people in 2010).
At the time of the 2010 Census, Evangeline represented 0.75% of the total population of Louisiana.
