Bossier Parish was founded in 1843 and was created by taking area from Claiborne Parish.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Bossier had a population of 127,039 people. This is an increase of 7.96% since the last Census (which gave a population of 117,675 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Bossier represented 2.6% of the total population of Louisiana.
