While our initial data about Mammoth Cave came from various goverment sources (GNIS, FIPS), we also found mention of Mammoth Cave in various books, maps and other sources. When we find a mention, a fact or snippet, we add that information to our Gazetter.

We've created the following list to keep track of the sources that proved useful in adding to our knowledge about Mammoth Cave. We hope that they will be useful to you.

Mammoth Cave is contained in a comprehensive list of Post Offices that was created by Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<1>

The Mammoth Cave post office opened in 1842.
