So far, we found very little information about Irad. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Irad would have been located within present day Lawrence County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Irad, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1885.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Irad is 620 feet [189 m] above sea level.<3>.

We originally found mention of Irad in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Irad was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

X2X - From that list, the Irad post office opened in 1885.

We also found Irad in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
