At the time of the 2010 Census, Hazel had a population of 410 people. This makes Hazel the county's 2nd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 410 people, the population of Hazel decreased 6.82% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 440 people).

We originally found mention of Hazel in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Hazel was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Hazel post office opened in 1890.

We also found Hazel in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
