Harrison County was founded in 1793. Harrison was created by taking area from Bourbon and Scott Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Harrison had a population of 18,886 people. This is an increase of 0.4% since the last Census (which gave a population of 18,810 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Harrison represented 0.43% of the total population of Kentucky.
