The community of Williamstown is the Seat for Grant County.

Grant County was founded in 1820 and was created by taking area from Pendleton County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Grant had a population of 25,069 people. This is an increase of 1.59% since the last Census (which gave a population of 24,677 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Grant represented 0.57% of the total population of Kentucky.
