The community of Carrollton is the Seat for Carroll County.

Carroll County was founded in 1838. Carroll was created by taking area from Gallatin, Trimble and Henry Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Carroll had a population of 10,658 people. This is a decrease of 1.42% since the last Census (which gave a population of 10,811 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Carroll represented 0.25% of the total population of Kentucky.
