Boyle County was founded in 1842. Boyle was created by taking area from Lincoln and Mercer Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Boyle had a population of 30,060 people. This is an increase of 4.83% since the last Census (which gave a population of 28,674 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Boyle represented 0.66% of the total population of Kentucky.
