Leavenworth County is one of the original counties of Kansas and was founded August 25, 1855.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Leavenworth had a population of 81,758 people. This is an increase of 6.85% since the last Census (which gave a population of 76,520 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Leavenworth represented 2.68% of the total population of Kansas.
