Vigo County was founded January 21, 1818 and was created by taking area from Sullivan County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Vigo had a population of 106,958 people. This is a decrease of 0.83% since the last Census (which gave a population of 107,848 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Vigo represented 1.66% of the total population of Indiana.
