Martin County was founded January 17, 1820. Martin was created by taking area from Davies's and Dubois Counties. From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Martin had a population of 10,179 people. This is a decrease of 1.5% since the last Census (which gave a population of 10,334 people in 2010). At the time of the 2010 Census, Martin represented 0.16% of the total population of Indiana.
