The community of New Albany is the Seat for Floyd County.

Floyd County was founded January 2, 1819. Floyd was created by taking area from Clark and Harrison Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Floyd had a population of 78,601 people. This is an increase of 5.39% since the last Census (which gave a population of 74,578 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Floyd represented 1.15% of the total population of Indiana.
