Harrison County was founded December 1, 1808. Harrison was created by taking area from Clark and Knox Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Harrison had a population of 40,515 people. This is an increase of 3.01% since the last Census (which gave a population of 39,330 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Harrison represented 0.61% of the total population of Indiana.
