At the time of the 2010 Census, Sullivan had a population of 4,440 people (or 29.91% of the total population of Moultrie County). This makes Sullivan the county's most populous community.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Sullivan was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<8>

From that list, the Sullivan post office opened in 1845.
