The Commemorative Quarter for Illinois

Welcome to Reeders ...

So far, we found very little information about Reeders. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Reeders to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Reeders - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Reeders, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Reeders <3>, we believe that it would have been located within present day Macoupin County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Reeders, you might get a feel for it by knowing that during our research the earliest mention that we found (so far) was in a book dated 1895.

Time Zone: The area where Reeders was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time

Communities Also Named Reeders ...

Adding Reeders to Our Gazetteer ...

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Reeders was in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).

We also found Reeders on a map titled Rand McNally Map of Illinois (1897).

Footnotes ...

<1>We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Reeders, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.
<2>If you're interested in how the shape of Illinois' counties, including Macoupin, have changed over time, we recommend the Atlas of Historical County Boundaries.
<3>It's a common practice for mapmakers to remove the apostrophe from possessive names. So Reeders may originally have been Reeder's.. For more information, please visit our Genealogy Helper Page for Reeders.
