At the time of the 2010 Census, Du Quoin had a population of 6,109 people (which is 27.33% of the total population of Perry County). This makes Du Quoin the county's most populous community.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Du Quoin was on a map (with an unknown title) dated 1870.
