Pulaski County was founded in 1843. Pulaski was created by taking area from Alexander and Johnson Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Pulaski had a population of 5,309 people. This is a decrease of 13.83% since the last Census (which gave a population of 6,161 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Pulaski represented 0.05% of the total population of Illinois.
