At the time of the 2010 Census, Bourbonnais had a population of 18,631 people (or 16.43% of the total population of Kankakee County). This makes Bourbonnais the county's 2nd most populous community.

The population of Bourbonnais represents 0.15% of the population of Illinois (which has 12,830,632 people), making it the state's 134th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 18,631 people, the population of Bourbonnais increased 22.12% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 15,256 people).
