Welcome to Sunset ...So far, we found very little information about Sunset. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1> We've added Sunset to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. The location of Sunset has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3> While the community is gone, the present day location for Sunset is 6,290 feet [1,917 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the altitude of Sunset is about 1¼ mile [or ~2 km] above sea level. Time Zone: The area where Sunset was located is in the Pacific Time Zone (PST/PDT) and observes daylight saving time Note: If you travel east from Sunset (for example, toward Thompson Falls (MT)), you will leave Pacific Time and cross into the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT). The location where Sunset once stood is in the (208) and (986)<5> area codes.
