At the time of the 2010 Census, Salmon had a population of 3,112 people (or 39.21% of the total population of Lemhi County). This makes Salmon the county's most populous community.

The population of Salmon represents 0.2% of the population of Idaho (which has 1,567,582 people), making it the state's 43rd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 3,112 people, the population of Salmon has remained roughly the same as the 2000 Census (which had a count of 3,122 people).
