The community of Conyers is the Seat for Rockdale County.

Rockdale County was founded in 1870. Rockdale was created by taking area from Henry and Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2009, <1> Rockdale had a population of 84,569 people. This is an increase of 20.62% since the last Census (which gave a population of 70,111 people in 2000).

At the time of the 2000 Census, Rockdale represented 0.86% of the total population of Georgia, making it the state's 27th most populous county (out of 159 counties).
