Crisp County was founded in 1905 and was created by taking area from DoolyCounty.

From the Census Estimates for 2009, <1> Crisp had a population of 22,210 people. This is an increase of 0.97% since the last Census (which gave a population of 21,996 people in 2000).

At the time of the 2000 Census, Crisp represented 0.27% of the total population of Georgia, making it the state's 75th most populous county (out of 159 counties).
