Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Sanford had an population of 61,448 people. This is an increase of 14.71% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 60.48% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Sanford had a population of 53,570 people (or 12.67% of the total population of Seminole County). This makes Sanford the county's most populous community.

The population of Sanford represents 0.28% of the total population of Florida (which has 18,801,310 people), making it the state's 47th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 53,570 people, the population of Sanford increased 39.9% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 38,291 people).
