At the time of the 2010 Census, Jay had a population of 533 people. This makes Jay the county's 3rd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 533 people, the population of Jay decreased 7.94% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 579 people).

We originally found mention of Jay in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Jay was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<8>

From that list, the Jay post office opened in 1902.

We also found Jay on a map titled Shell Oil Road Map for Florida (1956).
