Martin County was founded May 30, 1925. Martin was created by taking area from Palm Beach and Saint Lucie Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Martin had a population of 161,212 people. This is an increase of 10.18% since the last Census (which gave a population of 146,318 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Martin represented 0.78% of the total population of Florida.
