Hardee County was founded April 23, 1921 and was created by taking area from DeSoto County. From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Hardee had a population of 26,806 people. This is a decrease of 3.34% since the last Census (which gave a population of 27,731 people in 2010). At the time of the 2010 Census, Hardee represented 0.15% of the total population of Florida.
