The community of Wauchula is the Seat for Hardee County.

Hardee County was founded April 23, 1921 and was created by taking area from DeSoto County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Hardee had a population of 26,806 people. This is a decrease of 3.34% since the last Census (which gave a population of 27,731 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Hardee represented 0.15% of the total population of Florida.

    (Less than 2 miles to the north)

    (3 miles [4.8 km] to the south)
