Calhoun County was founded January 26, 1838. Calhoun was created by taking area from Washington and Jackson Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Calhoun had a population of 14,105 people. This is a decrease of 3.7% since the last Census (which gave a population of 14,647 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Calhoun represented 0.08% of the total population of Florida.
