While our initial data about Atlanta came from various goverment sources (GNIS, FIPS), we also found mention of Atlanta in various books, maps and other sources. When we find a mention, a fact or snippet, we add that information to our Gazetter.

Atlanta is contained in a comprehensive list of Post Offices that was created by Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<1>

From that list:

The Atlanta post office opened in 1893 and had closed by 1900.
