So far, we found very little information about Lenado. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Lenado would have been located within present day Pitkin County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Lenado, you might consider that their post office opened in 1891.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Lenado is 8,540 feet [2,603 m] above sea level.<3> In other words, the elevation of Lenado is about 1½ mile [or ~2½ km] above sea level.

Time Zone: The area where Lenado was located is in the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT) and observes daylight saving time

We originally found mention of Lenado in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found (so far) for Lenado was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Lenado post office opened in 1891. The Lenado post office closed in 1907.

However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now.
