While we don't have a date for the founding of Eagle, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1891.

The town was incorporated April 5, 1905.

From the  Census Estimates for 2019, Eagle has a population of 6,930 people<2> (see below for details).

Population Details ...

Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Eagle had an population of 6,930 people. This is an increase of 6.48% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 128.56% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Eagle had a population of 6,508 people (or 12.49% of the total population of Eagle County). This makes Eagle the county's most populous community.

The population of Eagle represents 0.13% of the population of Colorado (which has 5,029,196 people), making it the state's 59th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 6,508 people, the population of Eagle increased 114.64% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 3,032 people).

We originally found mention of Eagle in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Eagle was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Eagle post office opened in 1891.

We also found Eagle in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
