Alamosa County was founded March 8, 1913. Alamosa was created by taking area from Costilla and Conejos Counties. From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Alamosa had a population of 16,200 people. This is an increase of 4.89% since the last Census (which gave a population of 15,445 people in 2010). At the time of the 2010 Census, Alamosa represented 0.31% of the total population of Colorado.
