While we don't have a date for the founding of Caddoa, you might consider that their post office opened in 1881. From Place Names in Colorado,<3> the origin of Caddoa is described as "Named for Caddoa Creek, which was named for a tribe of Indians who wintered there in 1863-64." While the community is gone, the present day location for Caddoa is 3,880 feet [1,183 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the elevation of Caddoa is about ¾ mile [or ~1¼ km] above sea level.
