So far, we found very little information about Caddoa. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Caddoa would have been located within present day Bent County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Caddoa, you might consider that their post office opened in 1881.

From Place Names in Colorado,<3> the origin of Caddoa is described as "Named for Caddoa Creek, which was named for a tribe of Indians who wintered there in 1863-64."

While the community is gone, the present day location for Caddoa is 3,880 feet [1,183 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the elevation of Caddoa is about ¾ mile [or ~1¼ km] above sea level.

Time Zone: The area where Caddoa was located is in the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT) and observes daylight saving time

Adding Caddoa to Our Gazetteer ...

We originally found mention of Caddoa in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found (so far) for Caddoa was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Caddoa post office opened in 1881. The Caddoa post office closed in 1958.
