Footnotes ...
<1> | We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Kleverskoe, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy. |
<2> | The Doukhobors (or Doukhabours) are a Christian sect that were persecuted in the late 1800's by the Russian government and the Russian Orthodox Church. To avoid further persecution, many of the Doukhobors sought refuge in the Canadian Provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan and in this case, British Columbia.Once in Canada, the Doukhobors continued their communal traditions by forming Colonies, with small villages (such as Kleverskoe) forming within each Colony. |
<3> | When there's a risk of an area code running out of phone numbers, an 'Overlay Area Code' is created that has the same geographic boundaries as the existing area code. In this case, the 250 code has been Overlayed with one of the following codes: 236, 257, 672 or 778. New phone numbers in the Kleverskoe area will be assigned with one of these codes: 250, 236, 257, 672 or 778. As a result, placing a call in the Kleverskoe area will require 10-digit dialing (where you enter both the area code and then the phone number). |
