Welcome to Long Point ...

So far, we found very little information about Long Point. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Long Point to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Long Point - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Long Point, please Contact Us.


While we don't have the exact location of Long Point , we believe that it would have been located within present day Arkansas County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Long Point, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1858.

Time Zone: The area where Long Point was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are 21 communities that are also named Long Point - they are located in Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Brunswick, New York, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario (3), Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas (4), Vermont and Virginia.

Adding Long Point to Our Gazetteer ...

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Long Point was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Long Point post office opened in 1858.

We also found Long Point on a map titled William Bradley Map (1889).
