From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Howard was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<5>

From that list, the Howard post office opened in 1896.

We also found Howard on a map titled George#&160;F. Cram Map (1898).
