At the time of the 2010 Census, Gentry had a population of 3,158 people. This makes Gentry the county's 9th most populous community.

We originally found mention of Gentry in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Gentry was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Gentry post office opened in 1894.

We also found Gentry on a map titled George#&160;F. Cram Map (1898).
