Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Fayetteville had an population of 87,518 people. This is an increase of 18.94% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 50.77% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Fayetteville had a population of 73,580 people (which is 36.23% of the total population of Washington County). This makes Fayetteville the county's most populous community.

The population of Fayetteville represents 2.52% of the population of Arkansas (which has 2,915,918 people), making it the state's 3rd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 73,580 people, the population of Fayetteville increased 26.76% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 58,047 people).
