So far, we found very little information about Hix. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Hix would have been located within present day DeKalb County<2>.

The location of Hix has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3>

While we don't have a date for the founding of Hix, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1894.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Hix is 1,230 feet [375 m] above sea level.<4>.

Time Zone: The area where Hix was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time

Note: If you travel east from Hix (for example, toward Menlo (GA)), you will leave Central Time and cross into the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT).

We originally found mention of Hix in the GNIS. For more information, see the Referenced GNIS Codes section on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Hix was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Hix post office opened in 1894.

We also found Hix on a map titled Rand McNally Map of Alabama (1911).
