Walker County was founded in 1823. Walker was created by taking area from Blount, Jefferson and Tuscaloosa Counties. From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Walker had a population of 63,680 people. This is a decrease of 4.99% since the last Census (which gave a population of 67,023 people in 2010). At the time of the 2010 Census, Walker represented 1.4% of the total population of Alabama.
