So far, we found very little information about Clifton. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Clifton to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. While we don't have the exact location of Clifton , we believe that it would have been located within present day Wilcox County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Clifton, you might consider that their post office opened in 1853.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Clifton was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Clifton post office opened in 1853.

We also found Clifton in the book titled List of Post Offices in the United States (1870).
