Welcome to Blue Eye ...

So far, we found very little information about Blue Eye. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Blue Eye would have been located within present day Calhoun County<2>.


The location of Blue Eye has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3>


While we don't have a date for the founding of Blue Eye, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1844.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Blue Eye is 630 feet [192 m] above sea level.<4>.

Time Zone: The area where Blue Eye was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time

Note: If you travel east from Blue Eye (for example, toward Tallapoosa (GA)), you will leave Central Time and cross into the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT).

If Blue Eye still existed, it would have been in the (256) and (938)<5> area codes.

We originally found mention of Blue Eye in the GNIS. For more information, see the Referenced GNIS Codes section on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Blue Eye was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Blue Eye post office opened in 1844.
