Welcome to Adair ...

So far, we found very little information about Adair. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Adair to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Adair - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Adair, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Adair , we believe that it would have been located within present day Coffee County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Adair, you might consider that their post office opened in 1892.

Time Zone: The area where Adair was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are 18 communities that are also named Adair - they are located in Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio (2), Oklahoma, Ontario, Tennessee and Texas (2).

Adding Adair to Our Gazetteer ...

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Adair was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Adair post office opened in 1892.

We also found Adair on a map titled Rand McNally Map of Alabama (1911).
