Welcome to Katmai ...
So far, we found very little information about Katmai. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>
We've added Katmai to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Katmai - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Katmai, please Contact Us.
While we don't have a date for the founding of Katmai, you might get a feel for it by knowing that during our research the earliest mention that we found (so far) was on a map dated 1897.
Time Zone: The area where Katmai was located is in the Alaskan Time Zone (AKST/AKDT) and observes daylight saving time

Adding Katmai to Our Gazetteer ...
As we work on our Gazetteer, we occasionally find mention of a community that is new to us. When we find such a community, we add it to our Gazetteer with the hope of adding more information in the future.
The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Katmai was on a map titled Map of Alaska (from Rand McNally, 1897).
