Welcome to Dome ...

So far, we found very little information about Dome. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Dome to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Dome - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Dome, please Contact Us.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Dome, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1906.

Time Zone: The area where Dome was located is in the Alaskan Time Zone (AKST/AKDT) and observes daylight saving time

The Area Code where Dome was located: 907

Communities Also Named Dome ...

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are 4 communities that are also named Dome - they are located in Arizona, North Carolina, Ontario and Texas.

For more information, see our Tidbits & Trivia Page for Dome.

Adding Dome to Our Gazetteer ...

We originally found mention of Dome in the FIPS-55 file. For more information, see the Referenced FIPS Codes section on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Dome was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<2>

From that list, the Dome post office opened in 1906.

For more details, see References and Mentions for Dome.

Footnotes ...

<1>We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Dome, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.
