Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Akiak had an population of 395 people. This is an increase of 14.16% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 27.83% since the 2000 Census).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Akiak was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Akiak post office opened in 1916.
